Puppies will potty in the wrong places until they’re trained otherwise. While housebreaking may seem an unpleasant chore, it doesn’t have to be. The fundamental thing to remember is to have a little patience.
Housetraining your dog and teaching him to “go” outside is a process, but one that can be accomplished in a relatively short period of time without unnecessarily stressing your new four-footed friend or yourself. Gone are the days of newpapers strewn all across your home or the messy cleanup that follows.
Puppy training pads are wonderful tools designed to help make housetraining
much easier. Place the pads in the areas of your home that are acceptable for your puppy to use when eliminating. As he gets used to using the pads, move them closer to the outside door. Finally, place the pad outside, and your dog will then become used to eliminating outdoors, and the pads can be taken away altogether.
